We all need to speak up and work to dismantle the systemic racism in our world that affects Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC). There has been a history of anti-Blackness in Asian communities that needs to be acknowledged and changed. This phrase came out in the 60's civil rights movement as Asians wanted to express support for Blacks and simultaneously strip the power from a derogatory term applied to our own culture by claiming it as our own.
